In previous seasons Ham Utd Reserves have been seen as one of the weaker sides, however in recent weeks have had a turn of fortunes and were unbeaten in 4 games going into the match. Whereas Blandford's form had seen them lose 3 of their previous 4 games.
In an uneventful first half the Royals looked comfortable at the back but lacked any killer instinct going forward, meaning Ham United were able to contain Ford and Filkins for large periods.
The second half seen a much improved performance from the Royals, who now looked dangerous every time they attacked. Blandford took the lead after 60 minutes after a misplaced Hamworthy pass found filkins who cleverly slotted in Ford who slotted home. The Royals made it 2-0 after a rare Hamworthy attack had been thwarted and Haylock's precision pass found Ford in acres of space who again slotted neatly home in the 80th minute. It was 3-0 just before the end of the match after another Haylock pass found Ford. However this time ford advanced from the half way line and outpaced the oppositions back four before completing a superb hattrick.
The Royals seem to have found form at a good time, and will be happy to have kept their first clean sheet of the season.
